Shipping Tips & Tricks
Here are some shipping tips and tricks that can help you to get started selling on the Dollcrafter Marketplace.
What carrier should I use for shipping?
This is really up to you and your business needs. Personally we use USPS for shipping any packages we sell. Most mail carriers will allow you to print labels at home or in store. Below are some options for the mail carriers we recommend:
What should I ship my packages in?
Depending on the size of your product you may want to use a large envelope or a box. You can buy envelopes or boxes in bulk from places like Amazon, at your local mail carrier, or you can reuse boxes from orders you have received.
Here are links to the envelopes and boxes we use:
You can also add tissue paper or bubble wrap to your package to make sure your items are secure while in transit.
How much should I charge for shipping?
Your shipping fee should be the average of what it will cost you to ship your item anywhere within your country.
For most of our small items like our doll reroot kits or doll outfits we find that a shipping fee of $5 covers the cost to ship to most areas of the US. When we sell bigger items like our doll lots we will go up to a shipping fee of $7-$10 to cover the larger size of the package.
Right now our marketplace is US only, but once we expand internationally we recommend that sellers sell international shipping as a separate listing on their page since it will cost more than shipping within your own country. For example if you know that shipping to Canada from the US will cost around $10 and the shipping fee on your item is only $5. You could add a product listing to your shop for $5 that someone can purchase if they need international shipping to Canada. This way you will receive the $5 shipping fee on the item + the $5 from the international shipping fee listing for the $10 in total that you need to ship to Canada.
Dollcrafter shipping pro-tip!
On the Dollcrafter Marketplace our marketplace fee is 5% of each product sold, however this does not include the shipping fee! This way sellers can choose an appropriate shipping fee without worrying about increasing their marketplace fee.
